Yokoso, Japan!
July 30th, 2008 (Naha, Okinawa Japan)
Our journey across the pacific started with a dark, cool, misty summer morning and a very familiar drive to the Calgary airport. We walked through the sliding doors with our backpacks poking above our heads and I got that feeling that I have grown to love; the feeling of impending adventure. Our flight began with a rather cliché exit from Canada; a cranky Air Canada employee, a Tim Hortons coffee and a bagel with strawberry cream cheese. It was high-stampede time, so the entire airport was decke...

Canadian Tracks: My Detour Home
Oct. 15th, 2007 (Victoria Canada)
Well… It’s been a little over two months now, since our arrival back in Canada. Before I tell you about my new life, I’ll start by ending off our trip.
We woke up at the crack of dawn in Amsterdam and packed up our tent for the last time. There was a faint mist glowing from each of the tents as we poked our heads out to a silent sleeping campground and a cool shock of morning air. I was so excited to go home. I was so excited for that moment when I would walk through customs to a smiling Can...

Our Adventure to Cape Scott
Oct. 3rd, 2007 (Vancouver Island Canada)
For the third year in a row now, my parents and I have shared thanksgiving together on Vancouver Island. And this year, we definitely had an interesting one! Enterprise had a special on car rentals, so we were able to get a car with unlimited mileage for only $14 / day. So of course, in typical Wallace style, we decided to go on a huge road trip to see Cape Scott, one of the largest national parks on the island. We woke up at the crack of dawn to get out on the road because we knew it was going ...

All good things must come to an end.
Aug. 8th, 2007 (Amsterdam Holland)
Our final week in Europe went all too fast. The plan was to go to Amsterdam for three days, take the final train of our Europe adventure to Brussels, fly to London and then get a cheap plane flight to somewhere else. You see, Nicole and I had a massive decision to make in our last three days in Amsterdam: what was next, what was after Europe? We had been so consumed in the moment that we had forgotten all about our quickly approaching future. Here were our options:
GO TO JAPAN: Fly to Japan, ...

Konigsberg and the Baslers
July 30th, 2007 (Konigsberg Germany)
After our whirlwind trip to Berlin, we decided to slow down, and enjoy the German countryside. One thing that Nicole and I have noticed throughout our travels is that the major cities give a distinctly different flavour of a country then a small town, and Konigsberg, our next destination, is a prime example of that. If anyone asks me what is the one town they have to see in Germany, it'll be hands down Konigsberg. This fairy-tale village had everything from quaint little pubs and wine bars to a ...

Free Berlin
July 27th, 2007 (Berlin Germany)
The forshadowing of Berlin began moments before we entered the city, as we passed hundreds of wind-generators surrounded by fields of wheat. Production, development and cutting edge technology is the name of the game in this futuristic city. Berlin is one of the most hi-tech, progressive cities in europe, and contains a history only a few others can boast. As the train pulled into the brand new Haufbanhof station Nicole and I both had our heads tilted and looked out with amazement. The brand ne...
